I always think it's funny when I see a business advertise heavily that
they giving military and senior discounts on their services.
I guess that means that they just gouge everybody else?
I also get frustrated when I go in the stores and they all have tags
with prices on all of their products but nothing costs with
the tags say. Everything is discounted at different percentages
depending on what or where it is in the store.
So shopping ends up being a math problem or a situation where you're
walking around deciding well I know that this costs this much but I'll get
this much off and get this much off at the end and I have a coupon and
all that. I much prefer just to pick what I want and then go and pay
the price and be done. I don't want to have to do a lot of math to
figure out what it costs, I just want to be in the ballpark and know
that I'm not going to be embarrassed at the register when I go "how
much?"
It's in psychology thing. We are wired and have been trained to look
for a bargain and think they we're getting away with something for less
money than somebody else paid. So we rush to those places, go out
of our way to go to those places, and then walk away thinking that we
really took them for a ride when actually they're pocketing all of our
money and laughing all the way to the bank.
What a game!
